The Public Trust Doctrine in Environmental and Natural Resources Law

The fourth edition of The Public Trust in Environmental and Natural Resources Law updates the burgeoning public trust law of the last five years, including landmark decisions concerning the public trust protection of the atmosphere and numerous cases abroad, especially those combatting climate change. With the advent of a new deregulatory era of federal law, the public trust doctrine offers a largely state law doctrine, interpreted by state courts, as an alternative to protect trust resources from federal deregulation.
