The second edition of this book includes important new cases from the eventful past four years in Florida jurisprudence and provides legal and historical context for those cases. It introduces insightful new questions and, in some places, substitutes cases that illustrate legal concepts more plainly or succinctly than their predecessors in the first edition did. It continues to bring a unique historical, academic, and practical perspective.

This book is the most comprehensive casebook on Florida constitutional law. It contains more commentary than a typical casebook, reflecting the authors' extensive experience in drafting parts of the constitution (author Mills was the Chair of the Style & Drafting Committee of the 1997-98 Florida Constitution Revision Commission and has drafted several successful citizens' initiatives); litigating constitutional issues; teaching Florida constitutional law; and publishing articles and books about aspects of the constitution, including author Adkins's definitive history of the 1968 constitution. Thus the book seeks not only to convey the pertinent cases construing the constitution but also to place them in historical and practical context.
