The twelfth edition of Copyright Law includes significant updates reflecting recent legislation, new judicial precedents, and updates to Copyright Office rules. Major changes include five new principal cases: the Supreme Court's decisions on fair use in Google v. Oracle and Andy Warhol Foundation v. Goldsmith; and appellate decisions in Daniels v. Walt Disney Company, on character protection; Zalewski v. Cicero Builders, on architectural work protection; and Castillo v. G&M Realty, on the Visual Artists Rights Act.
This edition also restores the Siegel v. Warner Bros. decision on termination rights. There are new text notes on protection for computer software, copyright issues raised by generative artificial intelligence, and the small-claims procedure of the Copyright Claims Board, as well as updates throughout the book to reflect significant federal appellate decisions.
